After asking some quesiotns over on the help board I found out that the fuel pump is hooked into the comp, and seince I am going carbed I really have no use of the comp and want to get it out of there. Now my problem here is what about the fuel pump, some say that its a high pres and cant be regulated to the 5-7 psi that the carb. needs. After reading some other stuff on TRS if found out the the 3.0 fuel pump is 30-45 PSI anyways that doesnt matter, I also read that I can hook up a mechanical fuel pump from a 1970-1973 Ford Econoline van with power steering becuse its made upside down to clear the steering box. Now to get to my question how would I go about riging my gas take to work with a mechanical fuel pump. I would prefure to go with a mech. pump becuse in the past with other aftermarket fuel pumps they have allways craped out on me and left me and my bro starnded a couple of time and once we went with a mech we havnt had any problems.

Simply disconnect your highpressure pump and splice a line into its place. The low pressure intank pump will not stop your fuel from flowing. I run an electric pump ant the stock low presure. One backs up the other. Im not shure about mach. pumps so i cant help you out there. Good luck to you :D

You can pick up an electric pump from most auto parts stores (used to be called Facet, now Purolator I believe) for fairly cheap. Put that in there instead of a mechanical.

I just got done looking at this today.. Looks like the low pressure pumpo from 87/88 2.9's will fit in the sender, that way you can run that, and then be able to regulate it. Be sure to get the pump AND strainer, cuz the sizes of the necks are much different.
Thats the way I am going to go.
