when my bronco II is cold as in the first of the morning it takes anormal number of cranks to fire right up (sometimes it actually starts to catch on the first crank) If i drive it for awhile and warm it up and stop to get a coke it will fire right back up BUT if i eat lets say dinner and take about 20 minutes getting back to it it takes a bunch opf cranks to get it to start No matter what though once it starts it runs smooth no problems there Any Ideas at this rate i should burn up a starter pretty quick...

What year is your BII? How many Miles on the engine? What are you calling cold? where your living, well its not really cold there! (LOL 22 deg F. today here).
Anyhow, it sounds like it may be your fuel line preasure. have the injector rail preasure checked. if its low, it MIGHT be the filter, most likely the pump though.
this is all assuming that you have a fuel injected engine and not a carburated one. if its carburated, well someone else may have to answere this. there is a chance it might be the TFI, I dont know though. need more info on it.
good luck
peace :D

Check your ground cable on the battery, I replaced that because mine was pretty crappy and it started up a lot better. I don't know if that is your case, but hey, you never know.

Mine is running similar but I think its a temp sensor.
Its hard to start unless, I hold the pedal to the floor and it'll start right up. After running for about 3 minutes it'll run crappy for about 30 seconds and then smooth out. Runs fine after that. Haven't had a chance to check it out, but its on the list of things to do (when it dosen't work anymore I'll get to it, ha ha...).

its an 1988 and i mean cold its any temp outside but the engine is cold Thats not the problem it only happens after it been run for awhile and then is shut off for any time longer than 5 minutes Then its crank cranke crank and so on and the it fires up and runs fine Mileage is 118,000 and its really smooth Alltune up stuff has been done as well recently Im guessing either fuel pressure or temp sensor for the coolant ;)

My 88 2.9 does the same when it's warm but starts right up when cold. After checking things out the conclusion is a leaking fuel injector. Parts being so expensive here in Canada, I've elected to live with it and change the oil more often. My $.02
