Anyone have any experience with the wacky lookin explorer v8 headers? I have a pinto with a 289 that I'm finally going to get movin after 18 yrs! and wondering if those headers would be much, if any advantage over stock exhaust manifolds? I don't have room for shit thats why i'm considering these. Any input/ ideas/ thoughts would be great, thanks!

I'm pretty sure you have to use those headers with the stock explorer GT40 heads. Don't think they'll bolt up to any other 289 / 302 head.

I know its an old post but in case anyone searches; The explorer "headers" will fit any 302/5.0 head. They are not better flowing than most stock manifolds but they do fit nice and tight for clearance issues. The GT40P heads on the late 97+ Explorers did have a diffrent spark plug angle that requires these or another GT40P specific header.Earlier Explorers used standard GT40 heads with standard plug angle and will fit up to any normal 5.0 manifold or header,Just not in the Explorer chassis.
