This is actually on a '94 F150 but the same would apply to any vehicle. My engine started cutting off on me today and when I got home I checked the ignition. When I removed the distributor cap, has less than 10,000 miles on it, the center conductor on the inside which contacts the rotor button had pretty much vaporized.
Anyone know what might cause this?? I just want to be sure there isn't something else in the ignition system that will make this happen again.
Oh, I did replace the cap and rotor button.

Woh.. This is a new one to me. Well, a coil cant send too mutch voltage. The more the better in ingintion :D My guess would be that the cap had bad construction. All and all, it should not have gone bad that quickly. On install, put some dielectric grease on the terminal.
Keep an eye on it.
