Ok, here is one for you all........ After the ground hawg took a walk under the hood of my ranger I've had a weird thing going on... Yesterday morning on the way in to work, I noticed the Alternator light (the little red battery light) was on in the dash. So I thought "Dang, that new alternator must be died". I turn off everything but the low beams and drove it on in to work. As I was driving, I noticed that the Alternator gauge was still showing a mid area reading, as there was nothing wrong.

When I got to work, I shut it off and turned the key on to watch the alternator gauge, it went up about 1/4 the way. Then I started the truck and it went to the normal mid area again... I drove it home after work and checked it. It's putting 13.99 volts to the battery! So, then I let the battery set with all the lights on and the engine off to drain down the battery. I got it down to 11.6 volts and then started the truck. It went to 13.4 volts on the meter and then charged it's self up to the 13.99 area again.

I looked at the alternator and all the wires look ok an in good shape. I ever reset the computer and that didn't do anything. The light was still on this morning on my way in and everything ran fine..

Any Ideas...Bad Ground.....:dunno: It drives my crazy having false lights on..:curse:

Coule be a bad ground, or you may just need to pull the bulb :D

Its just a battery light that I am sure is set to trigger on a certain voltage. It may go through the ECU too, I don't know. Anyone have a wiring diagram of it? If I could see where it is wired to I could tell you what to check.
