Donnie you will love the HEI. It gives the 258 new life and a higher RPM range.

After the run saturday ive decided the 2100 and hei are top priority, then to figure out why my oil light comes on on inclines.... Is your 258 rear sump? the eagle is center and up hill it looses oil pressure as the oil runs to the back. (or atleast I think) but the guy in the cj following me didnt have this problem?

yeah its due to midsump.
Mine is rear sump and I never have had starvation problems except for a few times when I was on steep side angles.
My oil pressure runs so low it doesnt matter what its at anyways. Its a very common problem with AMC's to run low oil pressure. My pump is only about a year old and once it warms up you are lucky to have 10lbs of pressure. My fuel pump rus off of oil pressure and it is not uncommon to lose fuel when on the trail for a while.

So pretty much my best option is to grab a rear sump pan and pickup from a cj, and put it in after my solid axle (wont fit with the ifs) and MAYBE a hivolume oil pump?
ps. can someone move this into a tech forum not, its no longer a want ad.

Yeah donnie that would work. Go with ahi volume not hi pressure. Hi pressure will force your cam out of its run in and cause serious damage.

Meling hi volume pump at the local parts store for $78. I'm sure they can get me a pickup tube aswell. Pan can be found on ebay for cheap.
Got the carb on its way along with HEI distributor, and gear for 308 to fit it.
Still need a standard flywheel and the tranny can be put in aswell.
Eagles on its way to wheeler stats now.

Nope. I used a electric pump I got off the shelf at advance. I think it supplies 5-9 psi. Neve rhad a starvation problem at all. It worked with stock mech pump as well.

Must be the weber that the psi needs turned down for then. I read on a site someplace one of these swaps needs less psi.
