I'll be up north on another deal (NW Colorado/Wyoming) around July 17th to the 21st. Anyone up for some Colorado wheeling before of after?

I'd like to map the area from Montezuma to Breckenridge. I'd be up for Red Cone/Radical Hill or other stuff in the area. Georgia, Glacier, or Webster. I primative camp on public land but there are FS and private campgrounds in the area or you could drive out from Denver for a day of wheeling.

Let me know.

it depends on what i do this month work wise.

work has been real slow, and big jobs are getting pushed back. i plan on one trip to cali for sure and that is now foremost since i missed one already this year, i had been planning on a big trip in colorado that was discussed last fall, i was not planning on going to chubfest because of it.. no way i could afford in good business conditions to go to chubfest and colorado in a 4 month stretch let alone in the same month, but i missed a planned cali trip in the spring. so that changed things. i was busting balls in new orleans at the time and decided to concentrate on that instead of going.....which was a mistake and a waste of a plane ticket..

so for now i aint doing anything for the next 60 days.

I was planning another Colorado trip the end of August/first of September. Then Utah the first of October.

I have plans up north that week. When are you leaving/returning? Maybe we could do something in Denver or somewhere.

I don't want or mean to take anything away from Rock Rash. I plan on heading for Denver a week from Thursday. I'll most likely spend the night in Denver to adjust to the altitude. Then head out for trails on Friday morning. Depends on what folks want to do and who is able to make what I'll do what day. The area between Montezuma and Breckenridge is not that difficult. I'll have to check and see if Radical Hill is open. It has a fun place or two. Red Cone is moderate. Or was the last time I was up there. Georgia is not difficult either. Glacier, I have read is the most difficult. I'll most likely head out before noon on Sunday for the other deal. I may be back in Denver Sunday night. So there will be plenty of time to get to Buena Vista for Rock Rash.

is there rental jeeps or blazers out there?

what kind of cost to rent a cherokee for a weekend if theres special places. its too difficult going through the airports to get a 4x4. i been trying to do that in cali the last two years. hell renting something with a hitch to pull a trailer out there was 600 from thurs to tues for the cheapest and almost 1000 on the high end.

i figur i will take a hitch with me for a van and put it on and remove it myself, still 300 for a van and thats if i borrow a trailer to use. plan was to railcar the ranger out, fly out and do a trail or two and come back.
it is a good plan if i dont have to trailer it. much cheaper and waaaay less time consuming then driving without no major failure worries. besides i will never be able to take that many days off in a row and still actually have money..

but that is cali. colorado is drivable to use my truck. and 7-10 days i can do if i were to use my truck, but not at this time.

if i can rent a ride for 250 and fly out and home for 200, i can spend all my time there on the scene, and lose no travel time to and fro michigan.

thats a cheap thrill. but like i said earlier, cali is now the priority..

Don't know about Jeep Rentals. I do have an open seat and would share driving. I even have extra camping gear. I don't cook much unless we get a group going. Need about 4 to cook for or a lot is thrown away. I'll have hot water for coffee or coco in the morning.

I called the FS and the area I want to map is open. I will most likely leave a week from today and spend the night in Denver to adjust to the altitude. Friday I'll leave Denver and head to Montezuma and map the area to Breckenridge. Saturday I will do Red Cone and Radical Hill and head for Georgia Pass. Sunday I'll drive on out and head back to Denver. Looks like I will camp in FS or private campgrounds to have a campfire as fire bans are in place.

Looks like I'll leave Denver Monday morning for the other deal.

I would like to get out that way again the last part of August and the first part of September. The San Juans would be great that time of year. And the area near St. Elmo (west of Buena Vista) is very nice also. Then out to Utah the last of September or first of October.

Well the 18+ hour drive might slow me down a little. The bears might have to go hungry.

Yup! I know about that. Last year I drove up to Malta, Montanna just to start a trip that went south through Montanna, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. I did that two months in a row.

As long as folks from Denver head to that campground and put food in tents, I don't think that bear will go hungry. But that bear is waiting for more of the fine food you gave him.:ohyeah:

Well I serviced Mule and everything looks good. Heading out tomorrow sometime. Chance of thunder storms this weekend. Hope that holds off a bit.
