RRORC
Moderator Guidelines
1. Post's are not to be deleted for content. They can
be moved to the member's forum or locked. This will allow us to
review the post and see both points of view involved.
2. Keep
posts on the forum topic. If the post needs to be moved, notify the
originator of the thread why and where the post was moved.
3.
If someone becomes angry because their post was moved, please remind
them that you are doing a job. The boards are most effective when
they are clean and organized.
4. When a single question is
posted in multiple forums, keep the topic that is in the appropriate
forum and delete the duplicates. PM the originator as to why.
5.
Tech questions need to be in their specific forums, if the topic is
too broad for a single forum, place it in Question /Help.
6.
Remind members about the search function, as well as the edit
functions that allow them to delete multiple posts and such. If
a multiple post is not deleted by the originator, please do so
yourself.
7. Someone may ask for their post to remain in the
wrong forum, simply to get an answer in a timely fashion. leave the
post in the forum for 24hrs and let the originator know that it will
be moved the following day to the correct forum.
8. If a post
gets out of hand, make sure that you, as the moderator, get in the
last word! Be professional, but be blunt. Explain why the post
is being lock, then do it!
9. Your not the IC, tell the user
to direct all questions or problems to the ICs'
email address.
10. Keep your forum clean. Any posts that go
unanswered for more than 30 days can be deleted. All other post's
keep for at least 90 days, if the post has more than 10 responses,
read it and determine if it should go into the "best of
archives", if so move it there, if not delete it!
11. No
Third-party commercial advertisement, we are a non-profit
organization and cannot allow these types of ads. Members advertising
their own businesses should contact the secretary for
legalities.
12. These rules must apply to EVERYONE, please do
not play favorites!!
13. You are not paid to do this job, so
please don't act like you are...it's a hobby remember!
14.
Check all the forums for potential problems, even if the post isn't
in your forum. We can head off allot of problems if we help each
other.
15. The Off-topic forum is the only forum with a
disclaimer, so try to keep the subject matter outside of that forum
respectable.
16. Most of all, enjoy the forums! You are the
ones that will insure that the RRORC remains a great place for our
members to meet!
